Naduruloulou Fijian School has made a historic change today as it took on its new name, Kasavu Primary School.
Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama said this is the first school in Naitasiri if not Fiji to take on the new challenge of motivating the young generation to think communally in the inter-racial and culturally interactive society we live in.
The school changed it's name to coincide with the government's reforms stemming from the People's Charter.
Commodore Bainimarama unveiled the school's new name today.
He was officiating at the pass out of 83 cadets from Kasavu Primary School and the nearby villages of Kasavu, Verata, Wailevu, Visa and Naqeledamu were invited to the ceremony.
The Education Ministry has already stated that the race based names of schools has to be phased out.
