Many Hindus gathered at My Suva Park to immerse the idol of Lord Ganesha as ten days of Ganesh Utsav ended today.
Fiji Sewa Ashram Sangha, as well as groups from as far as Tailevu and Muaniweni in Nausori brought idols for the immersion ceremony or 'visarjan'
Assistant Secretary of Fiji Sewa Ashram Sangha, Akhilesh Prasad says all idols are environmentally friendly and is made of clay which can dissolve in sea water within 30 minutes.
He is urging youths to join in gatherings as such as they can learn more about their culture.
Tailevu Surya Narayan Mandir member, Pravin Kumar says he was very excited to join Fiji Sewa Ashram Sangha and says it was a great opportunity to meet other groups around Suva for the 'visarjan'.
Kumar says the idol they got from Fiji Sewa Ashram Sangha is really good for the environment as it dissolve and people will not find broken pieces on the seashore.
He is also urging youths to take part in such events so that in future, programs as such continue and never stop.
