As various Hindu religious groups celebrate Ram Naumi or birth of Lord Rama, the Sanatan Dharam has called on organizations to register with the national body.

National Secretary, Vijendra Prakash said many groups or mandali's are holding prayer sessions at temples, homes, and schools every night and it is necessary for them to be affiliated with them.

He added that the national body will ensure these groups are transparent and accountable for the accounts they keep in the day to day running of their organizations to ensure there is no misappropriation of funds.

According to Prakash in the last three years 600 new groups have registered. He is hopeful that other mandalis who have not registered will soon come on board.

Fijivillage News has noticed that during major Hindu religious functions like Ram Naumi, small religious groups collect hundreds of dollars from its members.

Ram Naumi prayers started yesterday around the country and will end next Tuesday to mark the birth of Lord Rama.
