The Highlanders have confirmed that New Zealand’s nationwide move into its red-light Covid setting has resulted in the cancelling of its February 11 pre-season clash against Moana Pasifika in Queenstown.
In a statement, the Highlanders say the match against Moana Pasifika could still go ahead on February 11 if a new venue is found.
The Highlanders are not the only team impacted as the Swire Shipping Fijian Drua’s trial match against the Western Force scheduled for this Sunday has also been cancelled due to the delay in the reopening of the Western Australia border.
The first Super Rugby Pacific pre-season fixture of the year between the Waratahs and Brumbies is still scheduled to take place this Saturday.
The Drua will play the Waratahs in their opening game at 8.45pm Friday 18th February in Sydney.
The Drua will play one home game in Fiji against the Highlanders on April 30th at the ANZ Stadium in Suva.
