A heavy rain warning remains in force for Viti Levu, Vanua Levu, Taveuni and nearby smaller islands.
The Director of Meteorological Services Ravind Kumar says this warning is in place for Northern Lau group, Viti Levu, Kadavu, Yasawa and the Mamanuca's.
Kumar says a heavy rain warning remains in force for the rest of Fiji.
He says the rain is caused by a trough of low pressure with associated rain and thunder storm.
This is expected to gradually intensify and move to the South of Fiji.
The rain is expected to intensify from tonight.
The areas which will be prominently affected are Vanua Levu, Taveuni and nearby smaller islands, the Northern Lau group, Viti Levu, Yasawa and Mamanuca group.
Kumar says frequent heavy rain and thunder can be expected from tomorrow morning.
He says localized heavy rain can lead to flash floods in low lying areas.
