Josefa Waqabaca, a villager of Vunitogoloa in Ra, informed fijivillage News that the water level in their village has started to recede after rain stopped and also the occurrence of low tide.

Waqabaca says that the flooding in the village was caused by heavy rainfall from last night until this morning, combined with high tide.

He says that most of the villagers have relocated to the Vunitogoloa Health Centre, which is serving as an evacuation centre, while they wait for the water level to fully recede.

Meanwhile, a Flash Flood Warning remains in force for flood prone areas adjacent to and downstream of Nakauvadra, Penang, Yaqara, Nasivi, Qawa, Nakorotari and Nasekawa Rivers while a Flash Flood Alert remains for low-lying areas of Viti Levu.

The Nadi Weather Office says a trough of low pressure lies slow moving over the Southern parts of Fiji associated with clouds and rain continues to affect most parts of the country for the next few days.
