Heavy rain alert in force for Yasawa, Western Viti Levu, Bua, Macuata, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands

A heavy rain alert remains in force for Yasawa, Mamanuca group, Sigatoka through Nadi till Rakiraki, Bua and Macuata province, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands.

The weather office says a trough of low pressure with clouds and rain lies to the north of Fiji and is anticipated to drift south and affect the group from later today.

Brief showers increasing to rain, becoming heavy at times from this afternoon and isolated thunderstorms expected.

Localised flooding of susceptible communities, businesses and low lying areas.

Localised flooding of minor roads, Irish crossings and bridges with some disruption to traffic flow, poor visibility for motorists and mariners.
