A heavy rain alert is now in force for Viti Levu, the eastern and interior parts of Vanua Levu, Taveuni, Kadavu and the Yasawa, Mamanuca and the Lomaiviti Group.
The Weather Office says a trough of low pressure lies slow moving to the west of Fiji and is gradually moving towards the country.
Cloud and rain associated with the trough is expected to affect the western parts of Fiji from Saturday and gradually spread to the rest of the country.
