The USA eagles have brought the Fiji Airways Fijiana 7s team’s Cape Town 7s cup campaign to an end, beating them 10-7 in a close encounter.
Both teams tussled for possession throughout the first half, however well executed support play resulted in Ilona Maher scoring in the corner in the dying seconds, adding 5 points as the USA led 5-0 at half time
Ana Maria Naimasi scored the Fijiana’s only converted try in the match.
A beautiful sprint through the Fijiana’s defense by Naya Tapper resulted in a gap opening in the far left of pitch which Sammy Sullivan took advantage of, scoring in the 11th minute.
