The Ministry of Health has confirmed that they are ready to assist the 9-year-old boy who is seeking assistance for a kidney transplant however they are still waiting for the results of the scan that was done last Friday.

The father of the child Daniel Munif confirms that upon the Ministry’s request, he had taken his son to the CWM Hospital last Friday to get a few tests done.

Munif says that the nurses did a blood test and also scanned his son’s stomach to check if the left kidney was removed.

The father had earlier told Fijivillage that he had taken his son to India last year as he was informed that his son’s kidney was getting worse.

He further stated that upon reaching India he was informed that his son needs a kidney transplant however the money he had taken with him had been used when the doctors did a surgery to remove the son’s left kidney.

Munif had returned to Fiji and had sought the assistance of the ministry in getting a kidney transplant done for his son who is currently surviving only on his right kidney which is functioning at 25%.

The Ministry has stated that if the child needs treatment abroad then they will send the child overseas.
