While the Fiji Women’s Rights Movement emphasized the need to educate the public on the challenges women face due to menopause, the Head of Family Health at the Ministry of Health, Dr Rachel Devi highlighted that many women experience this issue in silence.
Speaking during a panel discussion at the launch of FWRM’s research, Dr Rachel says they have developed a youth-friendly health services guideline, which has already been launched and training has commenced.

She acknowledged that there is still much work to be done in this area.
Dr. Rachel also emphasized that individuals living with disabilities will be included in efforts to raise awareness.
She also highlighted ongoing collaboration with Medical Services Pacific and other NGOs to strengthen and promote menstrual health rights nationwide.
Dr. Rachel adds the Ministry of Health cannot do everything alone, especially when it comes to community outreach for awareness.
