Vinen Shankar Narayan paid tribute to his late father after wearing the pair of canvas his father gifted him on his 18th birthday as he led 344 students during the Lomaivuna Secondary School pass-out parade.
Narayan who is also the school head boy overcame personal tragedy after losing his father last month however, it did not deter him from standing tall in the parade.
He says it was the most anticipated event of his life as a parade commander and was also a bitter-sweet moment for his mother Anjani Lata, who cleared her schedule from their dairy farm to witness her son's leadership skills.
Narayan says he wished his father was present to witness his achievement as he was looking forward to this event.
He also received the Baton of Honour Award for demonstrating exceptional leadership and perseverance.
Vinen aspires to become a doctor and his message to his peers is to listen to your parents, cultivate humility, study hard and when you become successful in life, remember your humble beginnings.
