Hard work and dedication has paid off for Jena Khatri of Jai Narayan College after scoring 392/400 in the Fiji Year 13 Examination.
Khatri who scored 94 in English, 99 in Mathematics, 100 in Biology, 99 in Chemistry and 96 in Physics says she could not believe that she had achieved the highest mark as she did not expect this recognition.
The 19-year-old says she is grateful to everyone around her including God.
Khatri says she always believed that discipline and integrity are the keys to achieving goals and once we set something we need to make a lot of sacrifices and manage our time to achieve our goals. She says while she did have a goal, she also made sure that she participated in the other events such as Chemistry Knowledge Battle, and IQ Active.
The pure science student says she looks forward to pursuing her studies in Software Engineering as she feels that it is the new hype around everyone after things are digitalised and in demand of technology.
Khatri encourages all students to set small goals every day so that at the end of the day they can see what they have achieved and pursue higher achievements.
Khatri's father Nilesh Khatri says he is proud of his daughter’s achievement.
He reminded all parents that only through support and motivation, their children will be able to achieve their goals and not through putting pressure on them.
The proud father says her daughter has also sacrificed a lot of things to achieve her goals such as television, friends, outdoor activities and social media only to focus on her studies.
According to Permanent Secretary for Education Selina Kuruleca, Khatri is the National Topper as per the provisional results.
