The Fiji Airways men’s National 7s team has made a winning start to their Hamilton 7s campaign after beating a tough French side 26-10.
Fiji started the game with a yellow card to captain Waisea Nacuqu for a deliberate knock on but managed to score two tries later on through Tira Wilagi and Nacuqu after returning from the sin bin.
France replied just before half time with an unconverted try to close the gap as Fiji led 12-5 at half time.
Fiji started the second spell with a try from Filipe Sauturaga before France replied with another unconverted try 3 minutes later.
Manueli Maisamoa scored Fiji’s final try with a successful conversion at full time to win the game.
Fiji’s second game is against Kenya at 12pm today and will play Samoa at 3.06pm later this afternoon.
