Dave Bautista confirms that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is his final Marvel Cinematic Universe movie and appearance as Drax the Destroyer.
The MCU gave the former wrestler his breakout acting role back in 2014 with the release of the first Guardians of the Galaxy movie.
Bautista has gone on to return as Drax in two sequels, two Avengers movies, Thor: Love and Thunder, and the recent holiday special on Disney+.
He has confirmed that he is not returning as Drax for any future MCU projects after Guardians of the Galaxy 3.
He also explained the complicated feelings he has about the role, which he loves but does not want to define his legacy.
Bautista has made it known for the last year or so that Drax's MCU future after Guardians of the Galaxy 3 might not include him.
The actor suggested that Marvel Studios could recast the role, although James Gunn has come out to oppose that idea.
While some may have held out hope that he could return to the role, his latest remarks make it clear why that will not happen.
Bautista is thriving outside the MCU with Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery and other upcoming projects that align with his ambitions.
