2008 Vodafone Fiji Bati world cup scrum half Aaron Groom wants his spot back.
Groom arrived in the country today with the Overseas Fijians team for the Battle of Bati clash this Thursday.
The 26 year old says this year's side will have to lift their performance to another level.
Groom added that his best memories of the 2008 Rugby League World Cup was the team bonding activities.
Groom will team up with two other players who featured in the 2008 Rugby League World Cup like Alipate Tani and Ilisoni Vono.
Fiji National Rugby League General Manager Tomi Finau said they have a similar program for the national team and will strengthen their team bonding activities.
The Battle of the Bati will also decide the players that will fill a few vacant spots in the Fiji Bati side as the NRL players qualify automatically.
Some of the players who will be part of the Vodafone Fiji Bati include Marika Koroibete, Petero Civoniceva, Akuila Uate, Jason Bukuya, Semi Radradra, Daryl Millard, Wes Naiqama, Kevin Naiqama, Tariq Sims and Ashton Sims.
Jarred Hayne will play for Fiji if he is not selected in the Australian team.
The Battle of the Bati kicks off at 7pm this Thursday at the ANZ Stadium.
The Rugby League World Cup will be held on the 29th of October in England.
