Thousands of people are expected to be part of the Suva Grammar School 60th+4 Diamond Jubilee celebration that will be filled with various events from tomorrow to next Saturday.

Speaking to fijivillage News, Vice President of the Suva Grammar School Ex-Students Association, Lagilagi Drauna says they will also be handing over $50,000 during the opening ceremony tomorrow that will go towards the construction of the school gym.

Drauna says most students nowadays are registering at the Rabuka Gym for their training, and sometimes students are there at 3 or 4 in the morning.

She says this is an issue as students need to focus during the day.

Dorothy Blakelock, the rep for the 90s Ex-Students, says each decade had a target of $10,000.

Drauna says they could not celebrate the school’s 60th anniversary in 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

She says a huge number of the Grammarian family locally, and overseas have confirmed that they will be part of this celebration, and this will also be a great event to catch up with other former students.

The Grammar Jubilee celebration will start with a reign parade from the Suva Flea Market to Albert Park at 9am tomorrow, then a bus will transport people to Suva Grammar School at 1pm for the official opening of the celebration. They will also hold a fun day at the school from 2pm tomorrow.

On Sunday, there will be a Thanksgiving Church Service at the Suva Grammar School hall at 3pm.
