Suva Grammar School’s Farhan Ali has won gold in the Senior Boys’ Discus event with a throw of 45.78 metres at this year’s Coca-Cola Games. Grammar scooped all the medals in the event.
Tomasi Lovo claimed silver with a throw of 45.50 metres, while Glen Finau secured bronze with a throw of 44.90 metres.
Speaking to fijivillage News, Ali says he was not expecting to win any medals in the event and simply wanted to participate and give his best — making the victory a welcome surprise.
He says preparing for the games was challenging, with he and his teammates undergoing morning, afternoon, and night training sessions.
Ali says he worked hard to balance both his studies and his training, aiming to give his best in academics as well as in sport.
He says he would like to dedicate his win to his parents, his younger sister, and his teammates, who have supported him throughout the competition.
Ali also says that he hopes to give his best in the upcoming Mini Games. Priya/Iliana
