The government has no intention to put a tax on the local suki industry although this was suggested earlier by the tobacco company.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, Professor Biman Prasad has clarified this to fijivillage News in an interview this afternoon after a question was asked during the State of the Economy Breakfast Talanoa if the Government has a plan to have a suki regulation.
Professor Prasad further says the tobacco company had suggested this because they have a blend in cigarette manufacturing, what they call the black packet Pall Mall, and have suggested or are asking for lower excise tax on it.
He adds that what he meant was that they will discuss that as part of the overall budget submission.
