Good news as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, Professor Biman Prasad led a government delegation to rural Nausori and Tailevu to assess infrastructure challenges and development priorities.
It has been highlighted that rural roads and drainage remain major concerns for these communities.
Professor Prasad says the government plans to establish an emergency committee and allocate special funding under the Strategic Planning Office to coordinate road and drainage works for the greater Nausori area.
He says the visit reflects the government’s ongoing commitment to improving infrastructure and services in rural areas, ensuring sustainable development, and enhancing the livelihoods of affected communities.
Meanwhile, the delegation also visited the Waidalice Bridge construction site, a critical link between Kings Road and the Western and Northern Divisions via Natovi.
The bridge is expected to be completed by September 2026.
The delegation included Assistant Minister for Public Works, Naisa Tuinaceva, and Minister for Employment, Agni Deo Singh.
