The private sector and government needs to work together to create more employment opportunities.
This was highlighted by the President Ratu Epeli Nailatikau at the closing of the 2015 Fiji Employers and Commerce Federation Top Executive conference.
Nailatikau says youth unemployment is hovering around 8% to 9% in the country.
He says about 400,000 of our population are economically active as the formal work force consists of close to 130,000 people.
He adds Fiji needs a sustained economy growth of 5% to be able to create more jobs.
Nailatikau then said that we need to develop evidence based and high impact policies and practical program intervention that will ensure jobs and improved livelihood.
