The Governor of the Reserve Bank of Fiji Ariff Ali has been appointed as the new Chairman of the Fiji Roads Authority Board.
Ali replaces Dinesh Patel, who is the Managing Director of R.C. Manubhai and was the Chairman of the FRA Board from July 2015 to April 2019.
Patel’s has come to the end of his term.
FRA Chief Executive Officer, Jonathan Moore says they are delighted to welcome Ali on and his wealth of experience and insight from his leadership roles will help them continue to achieve an efficient transportation network which is critical for national development.
Ali joined the Reserve Bank in 1992 in the Research Department and later appointed as the Governor on 11 September 2017.
As Governor, Ali is the Chairperson of the Board of the Reserve Bank of Fiji, Monetary Policy Committee, Macroeconomic Committee, Capital Markets Development Taskforce, National Financial Inclusion Taskforce and Secured Transactions Taskforce.
He is also a member of the Council of the Fiji Institute of Bankers and the National Anti‑Money Laundering Council.
Ali is also the Chairperson of the Government Tender Board, the Fiji Cane Growers Fund, the Accident Compensation Commission Fiji and the FRA and a board member of the Fiji Sugar Corporation Limited.
Ariff Ali obtained his Bachelor of Economics (Honours) degree from the International Islamic University, Malaysia and a Master of Business Administration from the University of the South Pacific, Fiji.
