A Government delegation led by President Jioji Konrote presented their reguregu at Bau Island for the late former Vice President and Roko Tui Bau, Ratu Joni Madraiwiwi this morning.
Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama accompanied by government ministers, high‑ranking officials from the Fiji Police Force and RFMF were part of the delegation.
The family of the Tui Nayau from Lau also presented their reguregu this morning.
The Tovata confederacy led by Tui Cakau Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu as well as the Burebasaga confederacy led by Marama Na Roko Tui Dreketi, Ro Teimumu Kepa have also presented their reguregu.
The traditional warriors from Namara have taken their positions on Bau island as they await the arrival of the body of the late Ratu Joni Madraiwiwi on the Island this afternoon.
The Yavusa, Ratu led by the Roko Tui Kiuva will be escorting the body from the CWM mortuary to Bau Island at about 4pm today.
There will be temporary road closures this afternoon to allow for the funeral cortege of the late former Vice President Ratu Joni Madraiwiwi to pass from Suva to Bau Landing.
Police say several roads will be temporarily closed from 3pm as the official motorcade will depart CWM mortuary at 4pm today.
The official motorcade route will be CWM Mortuary Waimanu Road Samabula Roundabout Ratu Mara Road Kings Road Wainibokasi Road Bau Road and to Bau Landing.
Ratu Joni Madraiwiwi will be laid to rest at the chiefly burial ground on Bau Island tomorrow after the church service at 10am.
