The children and teachers of Gospel School for the Deaf today celebrated Fiji’s 42nd Independence Day by cutting a cake and dance performances of unity and acceptance.
Through an interpreter, Ministry of Information permanent secretary Sharon Smith-Johns told the students that each and every person of Fiji contributes towards the country despite having disabilities.
She said Iliesa Delana is one such example who has made Fiji proud by winning a gold medal at the Paralympics.
