Gold medal and bronze on the line in rugby league 9s at Pacific Games tonight

There is a gold medal on the line in the Pacific Games Men’s Rugby League 9s as they take on Samoa at 8 tonight while the Women’s team will face Samoa for the bronze at 6pm.

Team Fiji will be participating in 10 sports today which include Archery, Basketball, Golf, Rugby League 9s, Sailing, Swimming, Tennis, Table Tennis, Volleyball and Weightlifting.

In Basketball, our women will play Tonga at 1pm in their quarter final.

Daniel Shaw is currently competing in the weightlifting men’s 81kg category while Keren Vulaca will compete in the women’s 71kg category at 1.30pm.

Sailing has started as well with the women’s one person dinghy teams and individuals and the men’s sailboard individual lightweight and heavyweight competitions underway.

Our Men’s and Women’s table tennis teams are currently playing New Caledonia in their semi finals while our women’s para table tennis team will take on the Solomon Islands at 1.30pm.

The Women’s Volleyball team is going into the elimination stages as they play PNG at 6 tonight in their quarter final.

In Archery, the Men’s and Women’s teams are trying to qualify for the Paris 2024 Olympics as their competition kicked off this morning.

In the pool where we have gotten all our medals so far, the heats for the freestyle, butterfly, backstroke and medley relays are being held this morning with the finals to begin at 7.30 tonight. Fiji is currently 14th on the medal standings with 3 silver and 2 bronze medals.

New Caledonia is currently leading the medal tally with 17 gold, 13 silver and 16 bronze while Australia is in second place with 11 gold, 7 silver and 3 bronze.
