Give us proof.
That’s what Fijivillage has asked former Fiji 7s coach Ben Ryan to provide to substantiate his claims on social media that overseas consultants asked for a budget of $1 million to put together the World Rugby 7s bid to host a tournament in Fiji and that the Fiji Rugby Union is wasting money with radio advertising etc.
Ben Ryan had asked the question on his official Facebook page why this has been allowed and that it is wastefulness of the highest degree.
Fijivillage has contacted Ben Ryan to provide the proof because he has made the claims publicly and has many followers who value his opinion.
To ensure that it is not just a claim on social media but that it is backed with true and actual facts and figures, we have asked Ryan to provide the proof to the people of Fiji.
Last night, Ryan put up another Facebook post saying that he will not do any media interviews and says that he has made his point clear.
We are still awaiting a response from him as we have asked him to provide the facts.
Meanwhile the Fiji Rugby Union has totally rejected claims made by Ben Ryan about the 2019/2020 World 7s Series tournament bid.
FRU states that the figures quoted by Ben Ryan in terms of the cost of the bid have been greatly exaggerated and are not factual.
The FRU says in addition to this, all costs associated with the promotion of the 7s bid on local television and radio stations have been met by those stations at no cost to the FRU in support of Fiji’s bid.
Fijivillage can also confirm that the CFL stations, FM96, Legend FM, Viti FM, Navtarang and Radio Sargam, and website, fijivillage.com are supporting the campaign with ads and it is being done free of charge to support the national bid to host the World Rugby 7s tournament in Fiji.
FBC and Fiji Television have also confirmed that they are putting up the ads without taking any money.
Meanwhile we have also asked the FRU to provide us the total cost of the national bid.
