SODELPA has released another statement on the Fiji 7s team's historic win in the Rio Olympics with the party leader, Sitiveni Rabuka offering to work with Government on the celebration planned for 22nd August and on the design of the reward package for the team.
Rabuka says some estimates put increased investment and tourism to Fiji, in excess of FJD$500m.
He has also listed a number of rewards for the winning team.
Rabuka says that each 7s player should be given a fully furnished house and land and a minimum tax free cash grant of $50,000, a handsome contract for Ben Ryan and fully loaded Toyota 4 wheel drive, citizenship, a diplomatic passport as well as a tax free cash grant of $80,000 for Ryan, all individual 7s players, assistant coach and manager to be offered a passport for life, Ben Ryan to be honored with a Companion of Order Fiji Medal, Osea Kolinisau to be honored with Officer of the Order of Fiji, the Vice Captain, Jasa Veremalua to be given the Member of the Order of Fiji and the rest of the team players to honored with the Medal of the Order of Fiji, a commemorative coin to be done for the gold medal win, Osea Kolinisau to be offered fee free tuition to complete his university education and a secured job with the Ministry for Youth and Sports, all team members to be offered tuition free TVET paths to become rugby coaches or other courses of choice and increased budget allocation for the Fiji rugby 7s team and each contracted player to get salaries of $30,000 each.
