With the need to advance sustainable tourism development in the Yasawa Islands, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Tourism, Viliame Gavoka has concluded a comprehensive tour to assess the Coalition Government’s integrated approach to this goal.
Gavoka says the government will ensure that all initiatives align with both the Fiji National Sustainable Tourism Framework and the Government’s National Development Plan.
He says the visit highlighted key aviation infrastructure projects, including a proposed ATR72-capable aerodrome near Teci Village.
The Minister for Tourism says this strategic project is being carefully evaluated through the dual lens of economic development and environmental sustainability, and is expected to boost economic activity in the outermost parts of the Yasawa Islands.
He adds this approach ensures consistency with Fiji’s long-term vision for responsible growth.
