Gas prices going down from tomorrow

Slight decreases for unleaded fuel and premix prices

There is some good news as gas prices are going down from tomorrow while there is also a change in fuel prices.

The price of a 4.5kg cylinder of gas will go down from $18.11 to $17.34, a decrease of 77 cents while the price of a 12kg cylinder of gas will go down from $48.30 to $46.24, a decrease of $2.06.

The price of unleaded fuel will go down from $2.75 to $2.74 per litre, the price of premix will go down from $2.35 to $2.34 per litre, kerosene price remains unchanged at $1.82 per litre and diesel price will go up from $2.31 to $2.34 per litre, an increase of 3 cents.

The Fijian Competition and Consumer Commission says the news about the Omicron variant pushed oil prices sharply lower on worries that further mobility restrictions and lockdowns could dampen oil demand.

It says these global economic factors in November 2021 contributed to the change in the local prices for refined oil products.

FCCC says the major reasons for the movement in prices for all LPG products in January 2022 in the Fijian market are due to favourable movement in Butane Contract Price (CP) and unfavourable movement in the international freight rate.

It adds Fiji is directly impacted by the world market prices for both refined oils and LPG.
