“We have given our full support to the proposed multimillion dollar Namosi Copper Mining project at Waisoi.”
Those were the words of the chairman of the Namosi Provincial Council Ratu Romanu Matanitobua after the meeting yesterday.
The chiefs agreed to support the proposed project after the motion was raised.
Ratu Romanu said the people have acknowledged the support of Namosi Joint Venture especially in relation to education assistance provided to the students of Namosi and the compensation paid to the landowners.
Meanwhile, Tui Namosi Ratu Suliano Matanitobua has urged his people to take part in the constitution consultation process.
Ratu Suliano encouraged the people of Namosi to stand up and be heard instead of relying on others to do the work for them.
Ratu Suliano also asked the government to take the consultation closer to them as many find it difficult to make it to the urban centers.
