Fuel prices go down while gas prices increase today

There is a huge drop in fuel prices from today however, the price of gas will increase.

The Ministry of Trade, Co-operatives, Small and Medium Enterprises and Communications in conjunction with the Fijian Competition and Consumer Commission has announced that the price of unleaded fuel will go down by 16 cents to $3.02 per litre.

Diesel will now cost $2.90 per litre which is a 13 cent decrease.

Kerosene will now cost $2.22 per litre while the price of premix has gone down by 20 cents and will now cost $2.83 per litre.

A 4.5kg cylinder of gas has increased by 27 cents to $15.82 with the price of 12kg cylinder going up by 72 cents and will now cost $42.18.

Bulk gas will cost $3.25 per kg while autogas will cost $2.28 per litre.

Acting Prime Minister and Minister for Trade Manoa Kamikamica says the Fiji Government is pleased to note the reduction of the fuel prices, however, he is aware of the increase in the price of LPG for December 2023.

He says they are aware of the challenges of a Small Island Developing States like Fiji, as a price-taker of international commodities price movements which can impact on affecting businesses and consumers in Fiji.

Kamikamica says they urge businesses to set the price accordingly and ensure consumers are levied correct prices.

He says the Ministry will continue to work with FCCC to monitor the international movements fuel prices and hope more financial relief will be provided to the consumers going forward.
