Good news as fuel and LPG prices will go down from tomorrow.
The price of unleaded fuel will reduce by 10 cents from $2.21 to $2.11 per litre, diesel will be 15 cents cheaper from $1.79 to $1.64 a litre, premix will also go down by 10 cents from $2.09 to $1.99 per litre while kerosene will go down by 11 cents from $1.36 to $1.25.
The price of a 12 kg cylinder of gas will cost $1.15 cheaper from $35.73 to $34.58, bulk per kg will reduce by 8 cents while the price of Auto gas will also go down by 3 cents from $1.66.
While making the announcement, Minister for Industry, Trade and Tourism Faiyaz Koya says the fourth quarter price assessment by the Fiji Commerce Commission has indicated that due to the declining international prices of fuel and LPG, the Fijian consumers will continue to enjoy reduced prices.
He has stressed that fuel retailers who will continue to charge old fuel prices will be taken to task.
Koya says while we enjoy reductions in prices of fuel, consumers need to be mindful of their responsibility and use of fuel wisely.
He adds that as the quality of fuel contributes significantly towards climate change, the government plans to improve the standard of fuel. Koya says this will result in cleaner fuel being imported and used in Fiji and a reduction in sulphide oxide emissions.
Meanwhile, the new board members of the Fiji Commerce Commission led by Chairperson Joann Young were also present at the announcement.
