Fruit production has a huge potential in Fiji - Seruiratu

The production of fruits has a huge potential in Fiji and the Agriculture Ministry has started to explore this opportunity.

Minister for Agriculture Inia Seruiratu has stressed this while speaking at the International Symposium on Tropical Fruits in Nadi.

Seruiratu also highlighted that this is evident by the current release of a new variety of Guava; which has been named “Green Pearl” for commercial cultivation.

This will be the first time for Fiji to start cultivating Guava as a commercial crop.

The Agriculture Minister says that fruits are important for nation building because they can provide necessary nutrients for healthy living as well as provide economic support to raise the standard of living of the rural population.
