Market vendors and people going to the Labasa Market now have free Wi-Fi and can also watch TV after the launch of the free Wi-Fi and digital television initiative.
While speaking at the launch, Minister for Economy, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum, says that the Government had announced sometime back they are working with Walesi to ensure that markets in Fiji had connectivity to free Wi-Fi and also access to television.
He says markets are places where a lot of people go for vegetables and crops, and this initiative is to ensure market vendors are empowered with knowledge and information.
Sayed-Khaiyum reminded the vendors to look after the sets given to them because it was facilitated through budgetary allocation.
He adds other markets throughout Fiji will be connected in the next few weeks.
The Attorney General says this will benefit vendors as they can get in touch with those they buy things from or sell things to.
