2023 Rugby World Cup host France has been dealt with another blow ahead of the team’s tournament opener against the All Blacks next Saturday after star centre Jonathan Danty joins the injury list.
According to reports the centre suffered a hamstring strain.
It’s yet another blow for the French side, who lost first-choice playmaker Romain Ntamack recently due to a knee injury with star loose-head prop Cyril Baille, who is expected to miss France’s opening couple of World Cup fixtures.
The 30-year-old has been in devastating form over the past three years and is sure to be missed for the opener but coach Fabien Galthie has options he can turn to.
Despite their tough first-up challenge against the All Blacks, France is expected to comfortably qualify for the quarter finals as they will play Italy, Uruguay and Namibia in the pool stages.
