All Blacks coach Ian Foster has backed forward Ardie Savea's decision not to travel to Australia for New Zealand's upcoming clash with the Wallabies in Melbourne, ahead of the birth of his third child.
Savea has been one of the All Blacks' most consistent performers despite the team's faltering form but has chosen to remain at home for his side's penultimate game in the southern hemisphere championship.
Foster says Savea is a key leader, a key player, but he is massively supportive of the decision.
The All Blacks will play Australia at 9.45pm Thursday.
