A former Senior Technical Assistant with the Rural Housing Unit at the Commissioner Northern’s Office and a former Manager of Buildex Marketing Limited appeared in the Suva Magistrates Court on allegations of bribery.
FICAC has charged the former senior Technical Assistant, Aliki Tuimakutu with one count of Receiving a Corrupt Benefit.
It is alleged that Tuimakutu received return air tickets for his wife and himself with cash benefits worth $1,238.50 from his co-accused, Ajesh Kumar Sharma.
The alleged incident occurred between January and November 2014.
Sharma is charged with one count of Giving Corrupt Benefits to Public Officials.
Sharma is alleged to have offered the return air tickets and cash benefits in order to influence Tuimakutu’s official duties as a public official.
Both have been released on bail with strict conditions.
The case has been adjourned to the 17th of this month.
