Former parliamentarian passes away

Former parliamentarian, Irene Jai Narayan passed away peacefully at her Rewa Street home this morning.

79 year old Narayan was sick for some time.

She was a member of the National Federation Party and later joined the Alliance Party.

She served in the legislative council from 1966 to 1987, was a Minister for Indian Affairs and a Senator for two years.

Narayan has left behind her husband Jai Narayan, three sons and one daughter.

Her funeral will be held on Sunday after a service at Jai Narayan College at 11am.
