A former hotel worker is trying her best to help people who are struggling due to the effects of COVID-19 and has so far assisted 52 families with food packs and vouchers.

These are people who have lost their jobs due to the recent outbreak of COVID-19 and have very little or nothing to eat.

Shareena Singh of Malolo, Nadi says she is mostly targeting families with single mothers or elderly people who have no form of support.

She says this started a few weeks ago when her friend overseas asked her if they need any assistance due to the outbreak.

Singh says she told her friend that she has enough but there are people who are in a really bad state.

Her friend then sent her $500 which was disbursed to five families as cash vouchers.

Singh adds after this she received donations from other friends who are overseas which has been used to distribute food packs to affected families.

She says she has been receiving a lot of requests from families who need urgent assistance but admits she is finding it difficult to cater for all of them and is urging people to assist her if they can.

You can call Shareena Singh on 9383828 if you want to help her assist families in need.
