A former driving instructor has been charged by the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption for corruption related offences.

Sandeep Anand Reddy is charged with one count of False or Misleading Document and two counts of Obtaining Financial Advantage.

It is alleged that between the 1st of July and the 8th of November, 2022, Reddy produced fake documents, namely a Taxi Permit and a Letter titled: Provisional Approval for One New Taxi Permit – Transfer, Re-Issue & Amendments with the intention of obtaining $950 from a private individual.

FICAC State Counsel Lanieta More informed the Court that the first phase of disclosures has been served.

Resident Magistrate Jeremiah Savou granted a non-cash bail of $1000 and Reddy was ordered not to re-offend whilst on bail.

Reddy was also ordered not to interfere with prosecution witnesses and not to change his residential address without first informing the court.

The travel documents for Reddy were surrendered to the court and a stop departure order was also issued.

Reddy is to report to the FICAC Suva Office once a month commencing from the 19th of January next year.

The case will be heard again on the 30th of January next year for second phase of disclosures.
