Tony Brown could be unveiled as part of the new-look Springboks coaching panel as early as this week, according to a report in South Africa.
Afrikaans newspaper Rapport has reported that the 49-year-old former Highlanders coach is in line to join Rassie Erasmus as attack coach.
Brown coached alongside Jamie Joseph at the Rugby World Cup with Japan last year, but Joseph has returned to Dunedin to take up the head of rugby role at the Highlanders, with Eddie Jones replacing him as head coach of the Brave Blossoms.
Brown has always stated that his preference was to remain involved at test level, and it appears that the Springboks have pounced.
If the report is confirmed, it would put Brown on a collision course with the All Blacks and new coach Scott Robertson, who tried to recruit Brown onto his coaching ticket in 2019.
