Former Fiji Under 20s and All Blacks prop Alex Hodgman has been signed on a two-year deal with the Queensland Reds for next season’s Super Rugby Pacific competition.
This has made him eligible for Wallabies selection next year since his father was born in Australia as well.
Hodgman has spent 9 seasons in New Zealand playing for Canterbury and Auckland in the Bunnings National Provincial Championship and also for the Crusaders and the Blues in the Super Rugby competition.
The 27-year-old made his international test debut for the All Blacks in 2020 earning him 4 caps.
Hodgman says the prospect of wearing the Wallabies jersey is one he would love to take if the opportunity arises.
He says he is taking one step at a time and is focused on playing to the best of his ability for the Reds next season, and if the opportunity to play for the Wallabies arises, he will take it with both hands.
Hodgman who has links to Fiji played for the Fiji under-20s at the 2012 IRB Junior World Championship in South Africa, however, he changed allegiances ahead of the 2013 edition and turned out for the New Zealand Under-20s.
