More than $7,000 has been raised for former Fiji 7s team rover, Donasio Ratubuli who is suffering from a jaw infection but he continues to seek assistance as he may require urgent overseas surgery.
Yamacia Rugby founder David Dakuitoga says he is really grateful for the generous assistance Ratubuli has already received from many people including former Fiji men's national 7s team coach, Ben Ryan and the Assistant Minister for Sports Alipate Nagata.
Dakuitoga has thanked fijivillage and Hands Across Fiji initiative as many people reached out to help Ratubuli with not only cash but in kind assistance as well.
He says Ratubuli is now staying with the Assistant Minister for Sports.
Dakuitoga says Ratubuli got an initial surgery through the specialists with the Loloma Foundation and they were to return to Fiji this year and do a follow up surgery however, it is uncertain if they would be coming back this year.
He has highlighted that the money that was raised has been used to bring Ratubuli from Savusavu to Suva and to cover his expenses as he is regularly going to the CWM Hospital for scans and x-rays.
Dakuitoga says the scans are being done to determine if Ratubuli can undergo a temporary surgery in Fiji or if he will be required to go to either New Zealand or Australia.
Ratubuli made his debut in 2013 and played 52 matches for the Fiji 7s team.
He scored 18 tries and 90 points in his career.
Dakuitoga says Ratubuli broke his leg in 2016 before the team was to leave for Rio Olympics which ruined his chances of getting any further.
