A former Financial Accountant of the Fiji Rugby Union, Pawan Deo and his wife, Subhashni Mudaliar have been charged by FICAC with one count of conspiracy to defraud – obtaining a gain and one count of obtaining financial advantage.

It is alleged that between 1st February 2022 and 31st July 2022, Deo and Mudaliar whilst being the proprietors of Sports Supplies Limited and whilst Deo was the Financial Accountant of the FRU conspired with one another with the intention of dishonestly obtaining a gain of $53,788.75 from the FRU.

State Counsel Mary Takinana informed the Court that the first phase of disclosures has been served.

Resident Magistrates Sufia Hamza granted bailed to the two accused upon producing two sureties.

Deo and Mudaliar were granted a non-cash bail of $2,000 each and were ordered not to re-offend whilst on bail, not to interfere with prosecution witnesses and other strict bail conditions.

A stop departure order has been issued against Deo and Mudaliar.
