The Deputy Director Strategic Planning of the Fiji Police Force, George Lagi, who is charged with one count of Bribery, has been granted bail by the Suva Magistrates Court.
It is alleged that between October 1st, 2012, and January 31st 2014, Lagi, whilst being employed with the Criminal Investigations Department, accepted a total advantage of $6,580.14 from a private individual on account of performing any act in his capacity as a CID Officer.
State Counsel Rajiv Pathak informed the Court that the first phase of disclosures has been served.
Magistrate Jayawardhana granted a non-cash bail of $500 and ordered the accused not to re-offend whilst on bail and not to interfere with prosecution witnesses, along with other strict bail conditions, including surrendering all of his travel documents to the Court Registry.
A Stop Departure Order was also issued against the accused.
Magistrate Jayawardhana has transferred the matter to Magistrate Jeremaia Savou, and the case will be called again on the 15 of next month for mention to check on the second phase disclosures.
