Rugby World Cup winner Liam Messam has accepted a challenge to fight former NRL champion Curtis Scott as part of Stan Sport's Uncaged extravaganza tonight.
The pair join a star-studded undercard to the Tyson Pedro vs Kris Terzievski heavyweight main event at Panthers Leagues Club in Penrith.
Messam, 40, has a 7-0-1 professional boxing record while Scott, 27, is also unbeaten at 3-0.
The former All Blacks loose forward Messam says his coach/trainer/manager hit him up a few weeks ago to see if Ihe was interested in fighting Curtis.
He says obviously Curtis has done an amazing job and made a career for himself out of boxing.
Messam says it is short notice but he has accepted it and tried to put eight weeks of work into two weeks.
He says he did a lot of boxing just to stay fit while he was still playing rugby.
The 40-year-old says as he got into professional boxing, it is quite hard to maintain camp fitness for it, so he tries to have a break in between fights.
