With announcement expected to be made this week in relation to the new food voucher programme, the Social Welfare, Women and Poverty Alleviation Ministry revealed that the Education Ministry and Health Ministry will also be assisting.
Social Welfare Ministry Permanent Secretary, Govind Sami said they are still working on the finer details of the new food voucher programme which is expected to assist 10,000 people with genuine needs.
Sami said these will be identified through Department of Social Welfare with assistance from Ministry of Health and Ministry of Education.
A total of $11 million dollars has been allocated for the food voucher programme, $7million dollars for the existing food voucher programme to carter for 27,000 recipients and $4million for the new programme to assist 10,000 new recipients.
