The much needed technical and food ration supplies for Port Villa left Nadi this afternoon.

Digicel Fiji’s Public Relations Manager, Satish Narain said they have put together more than a thousand packs of basic food ration which includes tinned food, rice, flour and water which will help to provide for much needed items for the most vulnerable people affected by the cyclone Pam.

He added these technical and food ration supplies are expected to be cleared in Port Vila tonight and be ready for distribution by Digicel and relief agency personnel from tomorrow morning.

Narain said the sophisticated technical equipment for repairs of towers and major network operations will assist their technical staff on the ground to restore Digicel communication throughout the islands.

According to Narain the Digicel network is fully restored in the capital, Port Vila and teams have been dispatched to many other islands today and Digicel Fiji has also sent a team of technical personnel to assist our counterparts in Vanuatu.

He added the relief supplies are also expected to help the many Fijians living in Port Vila which includes Fijian law students at the USP Emalus Campus, retired teachers at various schools on the island and also others who are working in the country.
