The Fiji Airways Flying Fijians received an iconic gift in the form of a tanoa from the Tui Namosi, Ratu Suliano Matanitobua which has the names of the players engraved on the tanoa.
The team will take the tanoa with them to Japan and it will be a ceremonial centre-piece for the team.
The team was in Namosi for a team‑building program as well as a community engagement program yesterday.
Coach, John McKee says the tanoa will mean a lot as it will remind them of the fans back home when they are at the Rugby World Cup in Japan next month.
McKee says this program has been an idea that they have planned for a while and a simple way of connecting with the Fijian people.
Captain Dominiko Waqaniburotu says they truly appreciate this kind of support from the Tui Namosi and his province.
The team made an early morning journey to Namuamua Village in Namosi. They were welcomed with breakfast before going for a four hour rafting and team bonding exercise in the Navua River.
The Flying Fijians concluded their day at Nakavu Village.
The Fiji Airways Flying Fijians will take on the Wallabies on the 21st of next month at 4.45pm in their first pool match of the Rugby World Cup.
Fiji is pooled with Australia, Wales, Georgia and Uruguay.
The Rugby World Cup will be held from the 20th of next month to the 2nd of November.
