The Fiji Water Flying Fijians and Manu Samoa game today will mark a historic 100 years of Tests between the two nations since their first meeting in 1924.
Lakapi Samoa HPU Manager, Douglas Ngau Chun says the two nations first met on 18th August 1924.
Fiji Rugby Union General Manager Operations, Sale Sorovaki says that first game was played at 7am so that the Fiji team could come back on the boat in the afternoon.
Sorovaki joked that there was a missed opportunity to recreate that 7am game this year in Samoa.
He says Samoa is the team they have been playing for the last 100 years helping to harness each other’s strengths.
The Flying Fijians play Samoa at 6pm tonight in Round 1 of the Asahi Super Dry Pacific Nation’s Cup at the HFC Bank Stadium.
